Cat 5e vs. Cat 6 vs. Cat 6A which should you choose ...
Cat 5e has been around for over 15 years. At the time it came out, it gave the first glimpse of the 1 Gigabit networks as a possibility, although it was not typical to find hardware reasonably priced that would support those speeds.Demystifying Ethernet Types — Cat5e, Cat 6, and Cat7
Ethernet represents the plumbing pipes of the Internet. Many network installers and system integrators are familiar with Cat5e and Cat6 cables with RJ45 connectors. But the term “Ethernet”, co invented by Robert Metcalfe, encompasses an entire range of twisted pair and fiber cables that are constantnetworking Cat 6e vs Cat 6a Server Fault
From what I can understand, Cat 6e does not actually exist but a number of manufacturers are selling some cable labeled as Cat 6e. Some sources say that Cat 6e is just Cat 6a but the manufacturers just added a few extra things to "improve" on it (like shielding I think?).networking Cat 6e vs Cat 6a Server Fault

Category 5 cable, commonly referred to as Cat 5, is a twisted pair cable for computer networks.Since 2001, the variant commonly in use is the Category 5e specification (Cat 5e).The cable standard provides performance of up to 100 MHz and is suitable for most varieties of Ethernet over twisted pair up to 1000BASE T (Gigabit Ethernet). Cat 5 is also used to carry other signals such as telephony ...CAT 5e or CAT 6 cables for server gigabit speeds lkj.net
I am having difficulty making my own cables from “Cat 6e” cable and “cat 6” RJ45 plugs. They will NOT run at gigabit speed! This is true of our short cables and long cables – we seem to have narrowed it down to the plugs, but there is no visible difference between these and the ones that are on the pre made cables (which do run at a gig).CAT 5, cat 5e, cat6, cat6a, cat7 Cable Standards | Cablek
CAT6a is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet over copper proposal to the CAT6 standard. The IEEE published a draft standard (Std 802.3an) in October 2004. The draft calls for 10 Gigabit data transmission over a 4 pair twisted pair copper cable for a distance of 100 meters on Class F or Class E augmented copper cabling. The case for Cat 6A over Cat 5e in PoE applications ...
A paper authored by General Cable data communications products engineer Rob Gould makes the case for the use of Category 6A cabling rather than Category 5e cabling for applications in which Power over Ethernet (PoE) will be employed. Focusing primarily on the original 802.3af PoE specifications, but ...Cat5e vs Cat6 Cable – Which do You Choose?
Cat 5e, Cat 6 are two different types of twisted pair cabling. But Cat5e vs Cat6 cable, do you know their differences? Which one is better?Network Know How: Can I use Cat 6 cable with Cat 5e jacks ...
For a system to be rated at Cat 6, all of the components in the system have to meet the Cat 6 standard. However, Cat 6 is fully backwards compatible with Cat 5e, so if the system's technical rating is of no concern to you, feel free to use all of the Cat 5e components you want. Using Cat 6 cable with Cat 5e components is a great way to future proof your network if your budget is limited.
